Oct 9, 2019	New product name: beta-acetoacetyl-acyl carrier protein synthase. New product name confidence: Class 1. New comment: PA3286 is also a beta-acetoacetyl-acyl carrier protein synthase. It belongs to the KASIII family (like FabH), but has a unique preference for octanoyl-CoA allowing it to shunt exogenous fatty acids from fatty acid beta-oxidation directly into fatty acid synthesis. Despite this specificity it does retains sufficient activity with acetyl-CoA to cover for FabY in initiating fatty acid synthesis. PA3286 is synthetically lethal with PA5174.
